Since the inauguration in 1863, where distant relatives to the Danish royal family succeeded the childless Frederik VII, the family of Christian IX and Queen Louise have been portrayed by artists both foreign and domestic. These artworks are scattered across countless private and public collections.
Siden tronskiftet i 1863, hvor fjerne slægninge af de danske konger afløste den barnløse Frederik 7., har Christian 9. og dronning Louises familie ladet sig portrættere af såvel danske som udenlandske kunstnere. Kunstværkerne findes i dag utallige steder både offentlige og private samlinger.
On occasion of the 200th birthday of Christian IX, KLEart and art historian Thyge Christian Fønss-Lundberg are proud to present a major book about royal portraits of the Glückburg dynasty, from the time of Christian IX to present day – the era of their reign.
